Bespoke Prenatal Education: Confident Preparation in Your Own Space

Moving beyond the generic hospital lecture, I provide intimate, evidence-based prenatal classes designed for the modern family. Whether you are planning a physiological birth at home or a supported hospital birth at CGMH or RVH, we prepare your mind and body for the journey ahead.

Private Prenatal Classes & Childbirth Preparation for Collingwood and Barrie Families Giving Birth at RVH, CGMH or Planning a Homebirth or Waterbirth

What We Cover: The Four Pillars of Preparation

My curriculum is rooted in ten years of doula experience and a deep respect for the "Fourth Trimester." We cover:

Pillar 1: The Physiology of Labour & Birth

Understanding the "Mirror" relationship between the diaphragm and the pelvic floor. We discuss the stages of labour, hormones (the "Love Hormone" vs. Adrenaline), and how to encourage your baby into an optimal position using Spinning Babies techniques and Yoga Birth techniques.

Pillar 2: The Comfort Measures Toolkit

We don't just talk about comfort; we practice it. You and your partner will learn hands-on techniques including TENS machine use, the Peanut Ball, rhythmic massage, and mindfulness meditation to stay grounded during surges.

A Modern Alternative to Group Classes

Your birth isn't "standard," so your education shouldn't be either. My private sessions are a 1:1 deep dive into your specific goals, helping you replace fear with physiological understanding and practical tools.

Pillar 3: Navigating the Medical System

In-depth preparation for giving birth at Collingwood General and Marine (CGMH), Royal Victoria (RVH), or Headwaters (HHCC). We cover informed consent, the BRAIN acronym, and how to maintain your "birth vibe" even in a clinical setting.

Pillar 4: Newborn Sleep & Postpartum Wellness

We bridge the gap into parenthood with a focus on Newborn Sleep Hygiene. You'll learn about "Le Pause," circadian rhythms, and how to co-regulate with your baby to ensure a gentler transition for the whole family.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Absolutely. This is the primary benefit of private education. We skip what isn't relevant to you and spend more time on what is—whether that’s VBAC advocacy or Family-Centred Caesarean protocols.

  • A hospital tour shows you where to park; a private prenatal class shows you how to birth. While hospitals provide excellent clinical care, my classes focus on the experience—the movement, the mindset, and the partner's active role that hospital orientations often skip.

Clients who take our private prenatal classes benefit from a personalized, hands-on experience, leaving them feeling more confident in the birthing process. Learn more about what classes include (and class options & rates ) here.

  • Most families in Simcoe County book their childbirth preparation classes between 30 and 35 weeks. This allows enough time to integrate the mindfulness and movement practices into your daily routine before labour begins.

Our private prenatal yoga classes (offer in-home) can begin anytime in the first, second or third trimester. They are most appreciated, however, in the third trimester or at full term as part of a natural induction routine and for added comfort and support in the final days or weeks of pregnancy.

  • Yes. Preparing for twins requires a unique roadmap, especially regarding nutrition, third-trimester comfort, and the logistics of a twin birth at hospitals like RVH or Mount Sinai. We adjust the curriculum to focus on the biomechanics of carrying multiples, timing of "Le Pause" with two infants, and navigating the increased medical monitoring that often accompanies a twin pregnancy in Simcoe County. My goal is to ensure you feel like an active participant in your birth, rather than just a patient.

  • Absolutely. This is a cornerstone of my private sessions. Unlike a lecture-style class, we get on the floor and practice. I teach you how to use Somatic grounding and movement to keep your pelvis open and your baby moving. We specifically practice transitions from the birth ball to the Peanut Ball, and I show your partner how to provide effective counter-pressure and hip squeezes to help you stay in your "birth zone" during active labour at CGMH or HHCC.

  • Absolutely. Homebirth and waterbirth preparation are some of my most sought-after private sessions in Collingwood, Thornbury, and Muskoka. As a Waterbirth International trained support person, I help you prepare your home environment for safety and serenity.

We cover the practicalities—such as pool logistics, water temperature safety, and "dry" vs. "wet" labour tools—as well as the mindset needed for a physiological birth. Whether you are working with the midwives in Barrie or Grey-Bruce, we ensure your birth team is unified. We also discuss "Transfer Mapping," so that even if your plans shift to CGMH or RVH, you feel regulated and empowered throughout the transition.
